March Madness: The Journey and The Seedings

The Journey started long ago and we have been fighting ever since SWAT was created for war wins, for trophies and to be the best. March Madness is now on the horizon and we must aim to win. But what is SWAT’s history in the tournament? Well, let’s find out!

The tournament was first hosted by Club Penguin Army Central in 2013. While people like Ganger have a love for sports, this love is spread throughout the community as the March Madness tournament was based on the basketball tournament, March Madness.

The first-ever March Madness saw 16 armies compete in what would be called the ‘Sweet Sixteen’ round. SWAT was paired up against the Dark Warriors on day 2 of the tournament in march 2013. Because both armies had black uniforms, SWAT turned green for this epic battle. However, DW didn’t put up the fight that many expected as they maxed 15+ with SWAT maxing over 25 penguins, easily combatting DW. While the fight was meant to be a big one, it was also a short one which saw DW log off after 15 minutes.

SWAT progressed onto the Elite Eight. This time, SWAT would be facing the Ice Warriors. SWAT had 25-29 in the event while IW had 30-33, giving the Warriors the advantage. Despite that, SWAT put up a great fight. However, were unable to progress to the final four.

2014 March Madness

In the 2014 March Madness 16 armies. once again, were able to participate but the seedings for the battles were definitely different this time around as SWAT faced the Army Republic. Once again, we battled on the second day of the tournament, aiming to win. However, the Army Republic were at war with the Doritos, therefore, SWAT faced the Chaos army after SWAT challenged them to a battle. This didn’t go to plan…Chaos outnumbered and beat SWAT in what was a small battle with SWAT only managing to max 6. Could this have been because SWAT was helping out in the DCP war?

2015 March Madness

The third March Madness saw 16 armies fight. However, SWAT was not one of these 16 armies. During this time, SWAT was going through a rough patch and returned to action in March and hired new leaders to help the revival.

2016 March Madness 4

The 2016 March Madness was the last MM that was hosted by CPAC as Club Penguin shut down the following year. SWAT, however did not compete as it had been shut down and didn’t return until april

2020 March Madness

SWAT did not revive until April 2020 so was unable to compete

2021 March Madness

This was the first time only 12 armies competed in the March Madness and SWAT was one of these armies that were participating and making history. SWAT was seeded against the People’s Imperial Confederation in the first round. We were able to beat PIC 3-0 and proceed into the elite eight after maxing 24 troops in comparison to their 13. Both armies put up a fight. The Elite Eight saw SWAT paired up against Ice Warriors in this round for the second time in history. Despite SWAT putting up a fight and making clean and creative forms we were unable to beat the Ice Warriors‘ 60+ penguins with our 25-30 troops.

2022 March Madness

SWAT did not compete in this tournament.

2023 March Madness

This year, the March Madness has come back to challenge us and we have taken that challenge with both hands. We have breezed our way into the Elite Eight without having to compete in the qualifiers, as a result of our great run in the Top Tens. However, we will be facing our long-term rivals, the Templars in this battle. Both armies will be aiming for redemption. Both armies will want to win the tournament. Both armies will feel the heat after many heated wars. However, to make HISTORY, SWAT MUST WIN. SWAT has never progressed to the final four in our history. We must make sure that this is the year that we do and break even more records than we already have done and put up many performances in the tournament that we can be proud of

LET’S WIN THE MARCH MADNESS TOURNAMENT 2023!

SWAT’S NAME MUST BE ON THIS TROPHY!
